JOHN GALLAGHER has been a fixture on the New York filmmaking scene for 25 years as a director, writer, producer and author
with a wide range of international filmmaking relationships and an encyclopedic knowledge of films and filmmaking.
His track record is especially strong in developing new talent, both in front of and behind the camera.
John has discovered and cast in debut or significant early roles such actors as

Gretchen Mol,

Denis Leary.
He has directed and/or produced films starring such talent as

John wrote and directed a series of award-winning, critically acclaimed independent features -

The Deli,
Blue Moon,
Cupidity - and produced, through his company
Angel Baby Entertainment with producing partner Gregory Segal, the upcoming features
The Insurgents and
Slaughter. John was executive producer on
High Times' Potluck,
The Animal Room,
Mango Tango, and the upcoming Revolutionary War drama
Liberty and was also heavily involved
in publicity and promotion for
Evil Dead and
Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn, two horror classics directed by
Sam Raimi.
John's articles on films and filmmaking have appeared in many magazines, including The Rolling Stone,
Fangoria and American Cinematographer. He is also the author of
Film Directors on Directing,
a collection of his interviews with film luminaries such as Francois Truffaut and Dennis Hopper, as well as an upcoming book
on the legendary director William Wellman. His monthly column for the National Board of Review can be viewed
here.
John has also written and co-produced twelve annual National Board of Review Awards events, writing speeches for such actors as

John's eye for talent has led him to follow in the footsteps of Sydney Pollack and Mark Rydell,
teaching Acting for Film to the graduating class at the prestigious
Neighborhood Playhouse School of The Theatre
acting conservatory, . He is also currently on the faculty of
The School of Visual Arts,
has taught film acting at One on One,
Shetler Studios, and
Actors' Alliance, and serves on the Board of
Directors of The Real Theatre Company.
John is currently in pre-production for Digger,
a co-production between Madonna and Guy Oseary's Maverick Red and his company Angel Baby Entertainment.
